Official Opening of the CHS 5K Loop Trail

The official opening of the Central High School 5K Loop Trail was celebrated on June 30 with a Ribbon Cutting by several community members instrumental in its funding and construction.

The trail has been the dream of Gary Darnell, a Cumberland Trail Board member. He envisioned the trail as providing opportunities for locals who wanted to exercise close to home and as a venue for 5 K events.

The trail begins at the Morgan County Visitor Center on the Cumberland Trail and then veers off to loop around on Central High School property and exit on Hillcrest Drive. It offers beautiful views of parts of Wartburg at the highest point. It’s open—come and enjoy! The trail construction was made possible by the 2017 TN Three Star Grant awarded to the Morgan County Tourism Alliance.
